Greetings Colleagues,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I want to invite you and your students\nto participate in Writing Lab. We will gather weekly for five\nweeks, Wednesdays, 10-11:20 am, weeks 1-5 (or longer if there is\ninterest). Writing Lab is a meeting place for students to share their writing,\nbuild a community, and crowd source best practices for working under these\nunusual circumstances. At the center of Writing Lab, we will open notebooks and\ndive into a series of free-writing, list making, and drawing exercises. We will\nshare strategies and structures for doing work in the midst of this pandemic.\nOur goal is to follow Octavia Butler and build habits that will persist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each week, there will be new\nwriting prompts; group writing and sharing exercises with students from other\ndisciplines; and the exploration of different themes such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

—\nmaking a pandemic workspace<\/p>\n\n\n\n

—\nbuilding new routines<\/p>\n\n\n\n

—\nlooking closely<\/p>\n\n\n\n

—\nhow to organize and mine information in your notebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please RSVP if you would\nlike to attend. If you\u2019re bringing students let me know your program name and\nhow many students you have or anticipate and I will save you and your program a\nspot (and send a zoom link).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first session will\nbe \u201cIntroduction to the Notebook,\u201d a zoom variation of the notebook\ntalk I would normally do in person\nthe first Wednesday of the quarter. If you would like\nto bring your students to just that one session, that is also an\noption. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
