Aug. 31, 1-4 pm&#8211;Please Register!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>From:<\/strong> Saliba, Therese <br><strong>Sent:<\/strong> Tuesday, August 25, 2020 8:05 AM<br><strong>To:<\/strong> All Staff &amp; Faculty DL<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dear Colleagues,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is still time to register\nfor Evergreen\u2019s <strong>UndocuAlly Training<\/strong>, organized by our staff and faculty\ncolleagues with the Latinx Standing Committee\/Undocumented Student Task Force.\n&nbsp;The 3-hour UndocuAlly training, presented by Nacho Alarc\u00f3n, is a great\nopportunity for all our campus community.&nbsp; As stated in the June LSC\/USTF\nletter to our community, \u201cWe call&nbsp;on&nbsp;our\ncolleagues and allies throughout the&nbsp;College to consider how&nbsp;you&nbsp;can&nbsp;advocate\nfor our undocumented and DACA students at Evergreen&nbsp;and create a more\ninclusive environment&nbsp;within and outside the classroom.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We hope to see many of you in\nthis Zoom space!&nbsp; <strong>Please register at the link below <em>with the\npassword provided<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UndocuAlly Training<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by Ignacio\/Nacho Alarc\u00f3n, Assistant Director, AB 540\nand Undocumented Student Center, UC Davis &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>August 31, 1-4 pm&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This UndocuAlly session, open to all Evergreen staff and\nfaculty, is an interactive virtual training to equip participants with\nawareness, knowledge, and skills for supporting Undocumented students. The\ntraining will be a 3-hour Zoom session with 4 sections: 1) Legal Landscape, 2)\nAccess &amp; Support Landscape, 3) Mental Health &amp; Navigational\nExperiences, and 4) an interactive panel to synthesize learning and dig deep\ntogether.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The intended learning outcomes for each area are as\nfollows: 1) increased knowledge of the historical and current immigration legal\nlandscape and its effects on Undocumented college students, 2) increased\nfamiliarity with the laws\/policies\/practices\/resources that impact Undocumented\nstudents at Evergreen, 3) increased aptitude with and commitment to use\nimmigrant-sensitive language, 4) individualized reflection on knowledge,\nawareness, and skills to commit to dig deep for our Undocumented\nstudents.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty will be compensated at Summer Institute rates for attending this half-day training.&nbsp; This workshop fulfills the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.evergreen.edu%2Fequity%2Fequity-inclusion-faculty-professional-development-participation-form&amp;data=02%7C01%7Chomchicr%40evergreen.edu%7C8fbad7dc5c634710399608d84908409d%7C22adcff7c06f49a68f2050711c40ddaa%7C0%7C0%7C637339658128177656&amp;sdata=2mxv18YHHxTVSomM59KitVGAohR9evyMkivIrjYGUcU%3D&amp;reserved=0\" target=\"_blank\">June 2017 MOU<\/a> requirement for the annual mandatory training for faculty professional development in inclusive excellence, culturally relevant pedagogy, and cultural competence.&nbsp; Given that this is a half-day event, however, we encourage participants to deepen their understanding through additional equity workshops and learning opportunities<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>About Ignacio Alarc\u00f3n<\/em>:\nIgnacio\/Nacho Alarc\u00f3n (they\/them pronouns) serves as Assistant Director for the\nAB 540 &amp; Undocumented Student Center at University of California, Davis,\nthe first Undocumented student center in the country. He also oversees the Yolo\nInterfaith Immigration Network non-profit, and serves on the Board of Directors\nfor the Stonewall Youth non-profit in Olympia, along with the advisory council\nfor UCPromise, an immigration policy research thinktank.
