This year we will not be\nenforcing the summer\/fall registration hold for students who miss the deadline.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.evergreen.edu\/academicstatement\/final-statement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Final <\/strong>Academic Statement<\/a> deadline for Spring 2020 graduates is extended to June 30,\n2020.&nbsp;<\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/tacomaspringfair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Virtual Tacoma Spring Fair<\/a> will be held May 16-23, 2020.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>A Virtual Summer\/Fall\nAcademic Fair will be held Wednesday, May 27, 4-6pm.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.evergreen.edu\/catalog\/index?year=4&amp;offered=All\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">summer<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.evergreen.edu\/catalog\/index?year=5&amp;offered=All\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fall<\/a> catalog copy will be updated by May 22 (thank you!)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Students can reach\nAcademic and Career Advising at <a href=\"mailto:advising@evergreen.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">advising@evergreen.edu<\/a> or (360) 867-6312&nbsp;<\/li><li>Summer\/Fall Registration\nbegins June 1.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Students\u2019 registration\ntime tickets are on their <a href=\"http:\/\/my.evergreen.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">My Evergreen<\/a> account&nbsp;<\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A <\/a>Virtual graduation ceremony will occur on June 12 at 1:00\np.m.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Students must still <a href=\"https:\/\/www.evergreen.edu\/graduation\/how-to\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">apply to graduate<\/a>&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Budget<\/strong>\n\u2013 The SAL budget team is working on a 20\/21 spending plan. Our pre-existing\nenrollment trends and the known short-term COVID-19 revenue impacts combine in\nchallenging ways with COVID-19 enrollment uncertainties and unknown but likely\nto be substantial State revenue shortfalls. The College is facing a major\nmismatch between revenue and spending that puts the College at a financial\nrisk. The work needed to close this gap is difficult and critical, and cannot\nbe fully accomplished by the end of the fiscal year. We are working with our\nbudget mangers to identify divisional budget reductions that we can manage now,\nand we are costing out larger scale reductions that we must make to close the\ngap. We will engage with staff and faculty unions as appropriate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;David\nMcAvity and Holly Joseph from the College\u2019s core budget team have been working\nwith faculty on the FAP (Lucky Anguelov, Sarah Williams, Ralph Murphy) which is\npart of the Resource Allocation Advisory Committee (RAAC). The RAAC also\nincludes staff Deborah Miles and Ivana Trottman, and students Cody Cook and\nMelinda Bratsch-Horsager. They are giving feedback on the budget planning\nprocess, as well as providing advice on budget reduction proposals and ways to\nengage with the community about decisions. David provided staff with an update\nat last week\u2019s SAL staff meeting and will provide an update to faculty next\nweek, followed by an outline of the spending plan in week 10.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>Big\nBets <\/strong>\u2013 Despite the significant disruption we\u2019re\nexperiencing, we are in the home stretch of crafting a New Academic Directions\n(\u201cBig Bets\u201d) model for final input and decision-making.&nbsp; Many thanks to\nthe hundreds of students, faculty, and staff who have provided invaluable\nfeedback as we have revised and refined this work.&nbsp; This visioning and\nchange work is even more pressing for Evergreen\u2019s future than it was when we\nstarted in fall.&nbsp; We look forward to presenting the model at the May 20\nfaculty meeting, in anticipation of further deliberation on May 27, with an\nadvisory faculty vote on June 3, and then final approval by the Board of\nTrustees on June 11.
