As you may know, this paid internship is a great\nopportunity for students of all academic backgrounds<\/strong>. Though students must\nhave junior or senior standing by winter quarter of 2021 to apply, we want all\nstudents to know about this unique internship so they can plan ahead http:\/\/leg.wa.gov\/Internships<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Academic and Career Advising will host a Zoom Webinar with past Evergreen interns and the coordinators of the program at the Capitol. Students must first register through this link:\u00a0https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/y93vdrc<\/a>\u00a0to receive an email invite to the session.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applications for the 2021 legislative session open September 1,\n2020 with a priority deadline of October 16, 2020 and a final deadline of\nOctober 21, 2020. Plan to work with the staff in Academic and Career Advising\nat Evergreen in preparation of your application and interview. A faculty member\nwill soon be selected for this in-program internship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each January the Washington State Legislature welcomes around 70\npassionate, inquisitive, and hardworking students from all over the state to\nserve as non-partisan, full time legislative staff in Olympia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to earning academic credit, interns engage as part of\na team, helping solve real world problems for the citizens of Washington. These\ninteractions provide one of a kind insights into the events and legislation\nthat impact our state every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Political experience is not necessary, and students of all majors\nare encouraged to apply. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and\npolitical ideologies who are active leaders, engaged in campus communities, and\nexcited to learn about government while gaining practical job skills. Whether\nyour interest is in law, business, communications, environmental policy, public\nhealth, or elsewhere, there is a place for you in Olympia. Interns are matched\nwith legislators in the House of Representatives or the Senate based on\ninterest areas and political ideology. The program also has opportunities for\ninterns to serve as caucus staff, focusing on policy or\ncommunications.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
