After\ntalking with colleagues at other institutions, it is clear that Evergreen\u2019s\nfaculty and staff have done amazing work. Thank you!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of you have questions about fall planning. The\ncurriculum deans will be presenting an <strong>information session during the\nspecial faculty meeting on Monday, May 11, from 4-5 pm, via Zoom.<\/strong> (A link\nwill be provided separately.) At the meeting we will discuss planning for fall\ninstruction, gather feedback on the planning process, and share how we are\ndeveloping health and safety plans. More details will follow via email on\nTuesday, May 12.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>None of us know how prevalent COVID-19 will be this\ncoming fall.&nbsp; We remain subject to guidance from Governor Inslee, and will align the college&#8217;s operations with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.wa.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/SafeStartWA_4May20_1pm.pdf?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=govdelivery\">phases\nof his &#8220;Safe Start&#8221; policy plan.<\/a> In order to better\nprepare, and to have clearer answers, we have already delayed summer and fall\nregistration to the week of June 1, and delayed Academic Fair to Wednesday, May\n27.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We are planning for a mix of in-person and remote\nofferings and activities that corresponds with Phase 3 of the Governor\u2019s \u201cSafe\nStart\u201d plan.<\/strong> We also need to be prepared with contingencies. More\ninformation can be found in the attached document. We will be able to share\nthose details and more during Monday\u2019s faculty meeting.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our first concern is for the health of our faculty,\nstaff, students, and the overall community. We hope that as many fall classes\nas possible can happen in person, and we must ensure that those classes are\nconducted safely. <strong>We will accommodate those faculty who request to teach\nremotely due to COVID-19 related family care, quarantine, or<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/need-extra-precautions\/people-at-higher-risk.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>elevated risk<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong> Likewise, we will need to\naccommodate those students who must attend classes remotely due to COVID-19\nrelated factors.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This kind of planning is challenging and valuable\nwork, and we value your flexibility and commitment to students as we approach\nregistration week and Academic Fair.
