{"id":1276,"date":"2020-03-23T16:48:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-23T23:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/ltc\/?p=1276"},"modified":"2020-03-23T16:48:09","modified_gmt":"2020-03-23T23:48:09","slug":"spring-break-remote-teaching-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/ltc\/2020\/03\/spring-break-remote-teaching-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring Break Remote Teaching Support"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dear Evergreen Faculty,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are experiencing a unique moment in Evergreen\u2019s history &#8212; a\nrapid transition to remote teaching.&nbsp; There is no doubt that this is a big\nlift for all of us at a time of stress and uncertainty.&nbsp;&nbsp; This is certainly not the way any of us\nwould have chosen to start spring quarter; however, I continue to be heartened\nby the many ways you all have stepped into this challenge and am deeply\ngrateful to be engaged in this work with the amazing faculty and staff at\nEvergreen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chronicle.com\/article\/Nobody-Signed-Up-for\/248298?utm_source=at&amp;utm_medium=en&amp;utm_source=Iterable&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=campaign_1097553&amp;cid=at&amp;source=ams&amp;sourceId=273512\">guiding\nprinciples Brandon Bayne penned in his adjusted syllabus<\/a> remind us that \u201cnobody signed up for this\u201d and that the\n\u201chumane option is the best option\u201d.&nbsp; This is a moment all of us will\nremember for the rest of our lives &#8212; and I know you will do everything you can\nto prioritize supportive relationships with your students as we work to build\nour collective resilience. Many of them will be frightened and traumatized,\nespecially those who are already vulnerable. You all have the power to be a\nstabilizing force in their lives by ensuring that all students have an\nequitable, flexible path to success in your courses and programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So many of you have shared great online teaching resources with\nour team in the past few weeks, and we\u2019ve posted many of them on the <a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.evergreen.edu\/courses\/3313\">KT Canvas site<\/a>. I do want\nto remind everyone, though, that what we are doing in this moment of crisis is\nnot the same thing as building a conventional online curriculum from the ground\nup.
