Get to know local and regional organizations with long-standing connections to the Evergreen State College.  This institute brings together faculty, staff, and members of community organizations to strengthen relationships and offer strategies for supporting campus-community partnerships.  Public Service Centers, including the Center for Community Based Learning and Action (CCBLA) and the new Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Transformational Change (CELTC) and Center for Climate Action and Sustainability (CCAS), work closely with community partners to design and facilitate learning in the community. Equity, anti-racism work, and social justice are at the center of partnerships like the Jose Gomez Farm Worker Justice Day, Gateways for Incarcerated Youth, LEAD, Climate Action, Thurston County Food Bank satellite, immigrants’ rights efforts, and building/supporting cooperatives. Participants will meet field supervisors, community educators, and alumni who provide students educational opportunities. We will also learn about high impact practices like community based learning, internships, student employment, capstone projects, and supporting student learning through professional skill development. This institute will include overviews of internship and individual learning structures at Evergreen and work to update and improve these processes.
