Forests also remove remove air particulates and facilitate carbon sequestration to cool a warming climate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1432403328415_5400\">Look closely and, along with towering bigleaf maple (<em>Acer macrophyllum<\/em>), you will find\u00a0horsetail\u00a0<em>(Equisetum arvense)<\/em>,\u00a0sword fern\u00a0(<em>Polystichum munitum<\/em>), maidenhair fern (<em>Adiatum aleuticum<\/em>) and, on the tree trunks, licorice fern (<em>Polypodium glycyrrhiza<\/em>).\u00a0 During our rainy fall and winter a seasonal creek runs through this habitat.
