Dance of Wisdom: Embodied Consciousness

The Evergreen State College

Good reads on white fragility and other similar subjects

I found these to be relevant articles to find ground and work towards positive change within myself, as well as showing more compassions towards everyone.

“why white people freak out when they’re called out about race”

“white fragility and why it’s so hard to talk to white people about racism”

“privilege, the invisible knapsack” by Peggy McIntosh

AND

“how to be a white ally to marginalized communities”

Sew seeds sing songs laa tee daa blah blah

Breakfast Tomorrow

It was  requested I post the menu so people can eat ahead of time if they aren’t into the foods, so here it is:

Waffles (vegan and dairy option, both gluten free)

Baked Tempeh “Sausage”

Braised Greens

Fruit Salad

See you there!

Why don’t people of color (POC) feel comfortable in white spaces?

What’s so wrong with white ladies finding themselves?  White Uplifting Spiritual Sisterhood?  And other fascinating (and valid) views others might have of our (white) lady spiritual awakenings.

And WHAT?

White People Have No Place in Black Liberation.  Great and challenging read if you think this concept doesn’t make sense, because I know we all want to feel like we can help!

I haven’t done any looking into HOW to make white spaces feel more inclusive to POC, but I believe this will help lay a foundation for why the gap exists.

A podcast i like

Its called The Heart. Its  here. I’m sharing it because the recent 4 part series (of which they are on part two of) is all about consent. Its super relevant to what we’ve been talking about.

The second episode is out also but you might have to go to the rss feed for that (/look up the podcast via iTunes or wherever you get podcasts from)

“when you dance, when you shift the weight of your body from one foot to another, when you shake to the sound of the night breeze and to the thrum of your own grief, when you continue the private practice of movement, you will be reminded of the fortunate (or unfortunate) fact that your body is real. Your body, even after betraying you, will carry you. Sometimes mercifully, sometimes mercilessly. But it will carry you. And sometimes, dance is the gift in all that rubble. Dance is the gift in all that mess. Dance is the conjuring.”
