For the first time, <strong>an Evergreen staff member led a workshop at WOHESC<\/strong>. Michael Joseph, Assistant Director of CCAS and MPA candidate, presented an interactive session titled <strong>&#8220;Solarpunk and You: How We Can Change the World,&#8221;<\/strong> developed with CCAS student staff, with facilitation assistance from Aeowyn Isobel, the Center\u2019s chief editor.<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-596 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/ccas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/705\/2025\/05\/SolarpunkWorkshop-300x285.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"336\" height=\"319\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/ccas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/705\/2025\/05\/SolarpunkWorkshop-300x285.png 300w, https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/ccas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/705\/2025\/05\/SolarpunkWorkshop-768x730.png 768w, https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/ccas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/705\/2025\/05\/SolarpunkWorkshop-676x643.png 676w, https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/ccas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/705\/2025\/05\/SolarpunkWorkshop.png 1023w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 336px) 100vw, 336px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The workshop introduced attendees to the <strong>Solarpunk movement<\/strong>\u2014a growing genre and framework for envisioning sustainable, just, and hopeful futures\u2014through the lens of <strong>Tabletop Role-Playing Games (TTRPGs)<\/strong> as educational curriculum and scenario training simulators. Participants engaged in guided imagination and reflection activities designed to build creative agency and climate resilience, drawing connections between personal strengths and systemic change.<\/p>\n<pre>\u201cRejecting dystopia isn\u2019t just about hope\u2014it\u2019s about building capacity for collaborative futures,\u201d* said Michael Joseph. \u201cSolarpunk invites us to imagine forward together, and that\u2019s what this session aimed to model.\u201d<\/pre>\n<p>In another first, Evergreen also supported a student participant in WOHESC\u2019s <strong>Sustainability Design Challenge<\/strong>, a hands-on experience rooted in <em>Design Thinking.<\/em>\u00a0The student explored how this methodology could be adapted and brought back to campus\u2014particularly to enrich academic learning and campus projects through innovation and user-centered systems thinking.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-595 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/ccas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/705\/2025\/05\/SolarpunkWorkshop2-300x199.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"404\" height=\"268\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/ccas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/705\/2025\/05\/SolarpunkWorkshop2-300x199.png 300w, https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/ccas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/705\/2025\/05\/SolarpunkWorkshop2-768x509.png 768w, https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/ccas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/705\/2025\/05\/SolarpunkWorkshop2-676x448.png 676w, https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/ccas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/705\/2025\/05\/SolarpunkWorkshop2.png 933w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 404px) 100vw, 404px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Throughout the conference, Evergreen participants engaged in interactive panels, connected with regional peers, and brought home new insights and strategies for strengthening our campus-wide sustainability efforts.
