They\u2019d visit the podcast studio, brainstorm episode formats, and explore potentials for classroom use and developing media literacy. (Some students, the Center&#8217;s Assistant Director Michael Joseph, faculty member Sam Saltiel, and alumni Ross Cowan, the president of the Washington Tabletop Game Alliance, are already <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/ccas\/games-climate-justice-and-learning-in-action-recording-our-video%e2%80%91podcast-pilot\/\">working on a pilot episode.<\/a>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">What&#8217;s on the Ballot? &#8211; Zine &amp; Climate Caf\u00e9<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 13pt\">Create a flexible zine template for content updated each election cycle in partnership with Evergreen&#8217;s Graduate Student Union and WashPIRG. Pair this with &#8216;Climate Caf\u00e9&#8217; or &#8216;Election Caf\u00e9&#8217; events to discuss local, state, and federal climate-related ballot items. (Guest speakers might be invited to these to enrich discussions.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Regional Sustainability Collaboration Meetings<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 13pt\">Host regular virtual\u00a0 meetings with regional sustainability organizations to help them share and coordinate their work. Meetings might include comparing event calendars to avoid overlaps, developing support for shared projects, short presentations by guests, and other features suggested by research to collect best practices for facilitating similar groups.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Planning for Climate Conventions<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 13pt\">Develop a full project management plan for hosting an annual campus-wide climate or sustainability event in partnership with the Thurston Climate Action Team. Tasks would include planning for budget, speakers and workshops, a showcase for student and faculty research, tabling by other organizations, and reusable publicity materials .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">&#8220;Climate Action Guide 2.0&#8221; (Online and Zine)<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 13pt\">Revise and expand the current climate action zine with new resources and interactive content, including the &#8220;Four Levels of Climate Action&#8221; and interactive reflection exercises like the &#8220;What if we get it right?&#8221; Venn diagram. (Some members of the Center&#8217;s Advisory Board might contribute ideas to this.) Develop an online version.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Solarpunk Citizen\u2019s Passport Guide to Civic Engagement &amp; Local Climate Action<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 13pt\">Create a guide introducing students to how local governments and campus organizations like the Board of Trustees, the Services and Activities Fee Allocation Board, the Geoduck Student Union, the Clean Energy Committee, and the Space &amp; Land Use Group operate, as well as offering suggestions about how to effectively engage with them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Social Media Pins: CCAS &amp; Green Drinks Intros<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 13pt\">Create introductory posts explaining the Climate Center&#8217;s work and Green Drinks events to pin as the permanent first items in our social media accounts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Solarpunk Saturday \u2013 Event Series<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 13pt\">Host a Solarpunk themed community gathering on campus each spring. Inspired by Evergreen&#8217;s historic &#8216;Super Saturday,&#8217; this event would include music, food, workshops, and partner tabling all tied to Solarpunk themes, and promoting joyful climate solutions, hands-on learning, and community engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Campus Sustainability 101 Handout<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 13pt\"> Develop a short printed or digital guide highlighting current sustainability initiatives, challenges, and successes on campus, with links to an ArcGIS Story Map and the Greener Project Google Map.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Move-Out Donation Drive Plan<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 13pt\">The project would involve researching other schools&#8217; programs, and creating a plan for collecting items from students moving out in the spring, aa well as storing, reselling, or donating them. It would need to include provisions for\u00a0 costs; working with other organizations like the Basic Needs Center; and evaluating each iteration. (The campus\u00a0 Fashion Club and Residence staff might help with project.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Community Green Organizations Database<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 13pt\">Create a publicly accessible searchable database of climate and sustainability related organizations including points of contact and opportunities for volunteering and internships.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Podcast Research and Proposal Students would research podcasts about solarpunk, sustainability, climate games, Afrofuturism, and related themes to develop ideas for a new and different Evergreen podcast.
