Walked into León tired but with a spring in my step— the city is delightful once you get to the heart of it. After a nap, I’ll be ready to explore, beginning with the eateries.
Phil—Monday
Mansilla de las Mulas.
Phil—Sunday
Sleepy town with a similar name to my fav on the way so far. Debating whether or not go go crazy hard tomorrow or not.
Phil—Saturday
First 42k day. Felt grand to push my body. Unsure if I’ll sleep in the albergue or find a church doorstep in Sahagún. Either way, I’m wiped out.
Phil—Friday
Made friends with a donkey, two dogs, acquaintances of 5 chickens, enemies of 4 geese. I also met some humans, and dscovered that Castillian garlic soup contains gluten. This was not good news to receive. Debating whether or not to ride a horse tomorrow.
Phil—Thursday
Between showers and bursts of sunshine, I made it nearly limping from sore feet into Frómista, found the “Star of the Camino” albergue, and am now enjoying potatas bravas and a garden view.
Phil—Wednesday
Albergue San Juan— Donativo, cold, awesome.
Phil—Tuesday
monday was the day that never was– a day of finding lost things, catching busses, missing busses, being missed by busses, hitching rides from cars and trucks, backtracking and adventuring. On Monday I ate a cricket. I also held a puppy. Tuesday was a day walking again, starting from where we left off Monday morning. In Hornillos del Camino I ran into a friend who lives here during the summers— happy reunions.

The small town of Tardajos, once a Roman crossroads, shall be my home for the night. Eating at the Bar El Camino, watching a nature show in Spanish, enjoying the lack of wind and excess of evening sun.
