The chill group gets chiller

As my walking group sits in Cafe Picasso we decide to take a rest day in Logroño. Slowly we settle in as the music turns to upbeat reggae. Aaron and Bryan move to the couches. Evan writes decked in his beanie occasionally sharing his concoctions. “Twisted, right?”, he says every time. Nicki, our German companion who has graced us with her constantly smiling presence makes a phone while Cooper watches the football match. It’s nearly 10am. Half of the chocolate doughnut Brian graciously shared sits in front of me as my mind wanders to East Oly, to Twister Doughnuts, to train tracks that lead to nowhere. I’m happy though. My heart feels light and my feet are content. I notice two pilgrims outside. I’m glad I’m doing this. The memory of yesterday’s walk as Phil yells into the wind,”I fucking love this!”. His penny whistle and Aaron’s laughter answer in response. Brian rushes over to show me Yeethoven- Beethoven meets Yeezus. I meet Coopers glance with a little dance. Nicki is searching for us on Facebook. Brian’s phone chimes. I finish the doughnut and am full.
