Paris: day 2

After a beautiful 7 hour hot dog lunch in Copenhagen, I arrived into Paris the night before last.  Yesterday was my first full day, and full it was! I learned the metro (rail) system, been invited to the homes of two men on separate occasions (only two?), got a “booty tap” from some adolescent, went to the dentist, and walked from the Eiffel Tower to my ‘home’ neighborhood, Gare de l’est. This city does not stop! Really. The dense neighborhoods filled with ancient architecture remind me that I am in a place where love is the oldest religion, and a little tap on the rump is an old way of complimenting another.

The day’s jaunt cost 11 miles on my body and I feel a little sore in the calves, which I believe to be due to lack of “eau” (water).  A good lesson for the Camino! Today I rested, and lazily observed the vicinity with caffe au lait. I’m finally hooked up to a strong wifi signal, and very much look forward to FaceTime with home very soon. Tomorrow I will meet with one (hopefully 3) classmate(s), visit the Père Lachaise cemetery where I will sprinkle a bit of ash, for Douggie (my pop) to chill with one of his favorite dudes, Jim Morrison.

Let’s Walk!

Walk- yes. But first, we sit and stare at the computer screen and try not to be embarrassed by the lack of know how on what the rest of my fellow millennial’s already have figured out: blogging. Thank you for bearing with me, and bearing witness to my attempts at jumping into the double dutch also known as internetting beyond Facebook. To recap- we are walking, sitting, witnessing, blogging, and double-dutching.

Buen Camino.
