Jess-Monday

today I spent a chunk of the walk making up new words to old songs. My favorite was (to the tune of we are the champions):

we are the championes (mushrooms)

dont try to eat us

because we are the fungus

of the world.

didn’t make it to logrono pushing to navarette tomorrow

a pain in the butt

your girl is sore.

yesterday, Shiloh, Casey, and I left St. Jean around 9:30. It took us ten hours to make it to Roncesvalles. This was after a decadent lunch in  Valcarlos. My feet were in some pain, especially around the pads of my last three toes. My arches are already nonexistent so the uncomfortableness of that was also present. I went to bed with my dogs barking, and woke up with virtually no pain. I started walking today feeling great, I went at my own pace, taught some English and learned some more Spanish. I was almost to Zubiri when I started feeling some intense pain in my arches, since your “arm bones connected to hand bone” the pain traveled into my right knee. I have been off of it for about an hour and it’s feeling a little bit better but I am hoping for the same miraculous wake up as yesterday. My shoulders feel a little tight and my hips feel like two babies have been sitting on them but other than that I can’t complain. My knee and arches are what are worrying me.

It’s only day two, I found myself questioning if I will continue on. Heck, of course, maybe with some tears and cracks in my teeth from clenching too hard but both of those things have already happened to me. All I can think hard over is feeling strong enough to push from day to day without injury.
