It was a finalist for The Believer 2007 Book Award. Mellis has received The John Hawkes Prize in Fiction, The Michael Harper Praxis Prize, and an NEH Independent Research Grant. Her writing has appeared in various journals &amp; magazines including\u00a0<em>Conjunctions<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Harper\u2019s<\/em>,\u00a0<em>McSweeney\u2019s<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Believer<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Cabinet<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Fence<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Tin House<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Kenyon Review<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Denver Quarterly<\/em>,\u00a0<em>American Book Review<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Context<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Modern Painters<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Post Road<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Harp &amp; Altar<\/em>,\u00a0<em>No Colony<\/em>,\u00a0<em>BeeHive<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Paul Revere\u2019s Horse<\/em>. Her writing also appears in several anthologies including\u00a0<em>Conversations at The War Time Cafe<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>California Video: Artists and Histories<\/em>.
