{"id":34,"count":5,"description":"Echolocation: the use of sound in order to create a mental map of the world around the organism.  Organisms use auditory clicks and the resonant feedback in order to hunt and navigate, even in low visibility. The clicks are high frequency noises which travel through the water.  When they encounter an object, they rebound back to the organism.  The organism is then able to process this much like visual data is processed, creating a cognitive map of the acoustic environment.","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/animatingthesea-s20\/category\/connections\/major-senses\/echolocation\/","name":"Echolocation","slug":"echolocation","taxonomy":"category","parent":35,"meta":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/animatingthesea-s20\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories\/34"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/animatingthesea-s20\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/animatingthesea-s20\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/taxonomies\/category"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/animatingthesea-s20\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories\/35"}],"wp:post_type":[{"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/animatingthesea-s20\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts?categories=34"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
