I recently returned from my first post-pandemic trip to Sarawak, East Malaysia, on the island of Borneo. I have been involved in conservation and ecology work over there since 2006. This year, I am excited to be embarking on a new collaborative effort focused on community-based and songbird conservation. In collaboration with Dr. Dency Flenny anak Augustine Gawin of University of Malaysia, Sarawak (pictured left from me – I’m in the foreground) and her research students (from left of Dr. Dency) Tina, Roslina, Norita, and Dorothy (right). For more information, see Bornean Bird Conservation.

Spotted Towhee – the song
This is a lovely song written and performed by Michael Warren; a fall 2009 Ornithology student. Thank you Michael for this homage to the Spotted Towhee (Pipilo maculatus).spottedtowhee
